One of the most fundamental features of Power BI is the ability to use conditional formatting with an If Condition statement on any table/matrix. The major use case of this feature is the ability to visually sort out our data when using an If Condition.
This feature is widely used by report creators to format data based on their required conditions. Both Excel and Power BI offer this feature, with the Excel version having wider capabilities including having the ability to format with multiple operators.
However, while the Power BI version also has a lot of capabilities, it suffers from a major drawback, namely the inability to format < or <= in the If Statement. For example, we can clearly see below that we don’t have the option to format either <0 or <=0 in the first condition:
In Inforiver we offer the ability to Conditionally Format using multiple operators. This way we offer report creators the ability to structure their reports as per their own requirements.
Let us illustrate this with an example.
1. In Home tab we select the Conditional Formatting tab, and under that dropdown we will select Create Rule option:
2. Next, we will select Rules (If Conditions) under the Format by dropdown:
3. In our If Statement options, we have plenty of options like Greater than, Greater than equal to, Less than, Less than or equal to, Is equal to, Is not equal to, Is between, Is blank, Is not blank:
4. If we select the Less than option and click Apply, we can clearly see that our values have been formatted as per our condition:
5. We can even create a second rule, and this time we will select the Is between option in the If Statement, and when we click Apply, we can clearly see that our values have been formatted between our two chosen values:
Finally, we can create a third rule using the Greater than option and when we click Apply, we can clearly see that our values have been formatted as per our condition:
