How to Manage Column Widths in Inforiver Matrix

One of the most salient features sought out by report creators is the ability to adjust column widths in their reports. Inforiver Matrix provides us with the manual option of adjusting our column widths by simply hovering over the column header that needs to be resized and then dragging the handle as desired:

There are however four other options which can used to adjust the column width directly from the toolbar itself. We simply have to select AutoFit under the Home tab to access these options:

1) The first option is Fit to Header where each column is resized to fit its column header. For example, in the below image the column is resized to fit in both the column headers (Gross Sales, PY Sales):

2) The second option is Fit to Content where each column is resized to fit the content. In the below example we can clearly see that the columns are resized to fit the content (in this case the numbers):

3) The third option is Best fit where both rows and columns are auto adjusted and optimized to fit the space. It is a combination of both Fit to Header and Fit to content:

4) The fourth option is Manual column width which allows you to enter the width for specific columns in pixels. You can specify the measurements in this option:

5) Lock column width is used to lock the column sizes to prevent any unintentional changes. It isn't necessarily used to adjust the column width rather it is used to lock the existing adjustments. Hence once the columns are locked, the other four auto-fit options are automatically greyed out. In order to make further changes, the toggle needs to be turned off:

6) The Auto wrap columns option allows us to automatically wrap text in columns. The row headers for certain selected columns will get auto wrapped when we select this option:
