How to create a 4-5-4 Retail Calendar using Inforiver Super Filter

The 4-5-4 calendar acts as a guide for retailers as it ensures sales comparability between years by dividing the year into months based on 4 weeks – 5 weeks – 4 weeks format. The layout of the calendar lines up holidays and ensures the same number of Saturdays and Sundays in comparable months. Hence, like days are compared to like days for sales reporting purposes. In Super Filter we can easily create a 4-5-4 Retail Calendar.

Let us understand how this can be done in Super filter with an example.

1) First, we go to the Date Filter -> General -> Selection Style -> Choose 'Calendar' option:

2) We can enable Month Calendar and there are two ways of enabling Month Calendar.

First method involves going to Date Filter -> General -> Calendar -> Calendar View -> Selecting 'Month' option:

Second method is directly choosing the Month option from the Calendar:

3) Next, we can change the Months Count (number of months shown in Calendar). Months Count is located under Date Filter -> General -> Calendar -> Months Count. Usually, it will be set in default as 1:

We can change Months Count to 12 (to showcase 12 months):

3) Finally, we can go to Calendar Week Mode and select 4-5-4 weeks option. Once again to achieve this go to Date Filter -> General -> Calendar Week Mode -> Choose '4-5-4 Weeks' option:

4) We can also change the Fiscal year starting month by going to Fiscal Year - Starting Month and changing the starting month there. In this case we will change the starting month to February since we are using 4-5-4 week retail calendar:

6) Also, we can enable Weekends by enabling Days off. Do this by going to Date Filter -> General -> Calendar -> enable 'Days off':

7) In addition, we can also change the start day of the week by going to Start Day of week. In our case since we are using 4-5-4 retail calendar, we will make Sunday as the start day of the week:

8) Finally, we can change the Week Calculation. So, in our case since we are using 4-5-4 retail calendar for 2025, we want to start from 2nd February 2025 which is the first business week of the year in the 2025 retail calendar. To do this we will select the First Business Week of First Month option under Week Calculation. We can do this by going to Date Filter -> General ->Week Calculation -> choose 'First Business Week of First Month' option

9) Finally, we have successfully created our 4-5-4 retail calendar:

10) Similarly, we can create other types of calendars like 4-4-5 Week calendar and 5-4-4 Week calendar:
