Row Grouping:
Step 1: Before grouping, make sure your rows are in consecutive order. If the rows are not consecutive, reorder them by clicking and dragging.
Step 2: Select all rows by holding the Control key then click on "Group" from the Insert tab. Give a label to the group and click on "Apply".
Step 3: Now you can see the office chairs group with an expand/collapse button. You can hide that icon by right-clicking on a row and selecting "Hide Expand Iconβ. In the case of row grouping, subtotals are automatically calculated.
Furthermore, you can add more indentation to the rows. To add indentation, select all rows, then click on the icon highlighted in the Home tab.
Auto grouping:
Auto grouping works based on conditional formatting on a column. In this example, I want to group rows based on the net profit amount as Low/Medium/High. Therefore, I applied conditional formatting to a net profit column
Next, In the 'Insert' tab, click on 'Group' and select the β Segmentation β Net Profit β column.
Done! It will automatically group the rows based on conditional formatting, as shown below.
Column Grouping:
Follow the same steps as explained for row grouping.
