One of the core functionalities of MS Excel is the ability to copy an existing conditional formatting rule, and then re-apply that copied rule to multiple fields in the table by using the Duplicate Rule function.
In Power BI we do not have a similar Duplicate Rule function.
Instead, the rules need to be manually applied to each and every column individually. This is an extremely time-consuming process especially when we have multiple columns to format.
Inforiver solves this allowing us to copy our conditional formatting rule, and then re-apply them to multiple fields, thus saving us lots of time spent in individually formatting each and every column.
For example, say we have an existing conditional formatting rule in our table/matrix like this:
We can go to Manage Rules (very similar to what we have in MS Excel):
Then we can simply duplicate this rule by using the Duplicate Rule function:
When hovering over the rule we can clearly see that it is a duplicate rule:
We can even edit our duplicate rule by clicking on the edit icon:
Alternatively, we can even delete our duplicate rules if not needed:
We can then change our duplicate rule as per our requirements and then select Apply. Now the same conditional formatting has been applied to multiple fields with just a single click:
Finally, we have the option of switching off our Duplicate rule incase we don't want to delete it permanently but still use it later:
