Did you know that we can hide the subtotals for a particular category alone?

We all know that the Subtotals can be either enabled or disabled for the entire visual by clicking on the ‘Totals’ option in the Home tab.

Now, it is also possible to hide the row subtotal for a specific category alone. This can be achieved only by using the Stepped Layout format as shown below.

For instance, if we do not want to display the Row Subtotals for Region level alone, then hover on the Region column header and click on the gripper icon. Then, select the “Hide Subtotal” option from the dropdown menu.

Now, this will hide the Subtotal row for the “Region” level alone which is highlighted in the above screenshot.

If we want the above visual to be displayed in the Table format by hiding the subtotals for a particular category alone, then this can be achieved easily within the Stepped layout.

For instance, hover on the “Category” column header and click on the gripper icon. Then, select the “Repeat Labels On” option from the drop down.

This helps us to achieve the Table format by repeating all the labels as shown below. Similarly, the above option needs to be selected for all the columns.
