We can apply Semantic Formatting on Inverted column measures by using the column gripper instead of usual method of going to Display tab -> Numbers -> Enabling Semantic Formatting. This is a very useful feature especially when we want to instantly apply semantic formatting for values on a specific column or multiple column measures.
This feature is only available in Inforiver Writeback Matrix.
Let us understand with an example.
1) First let us enable Invert option for multiple column measures in our case it is the Sum of Sales measure in each column hierarchy:
2) Next, we can click on the Column gripper in one of the Inverted column measures and we get the option to enable Semantic Formatting. In the below example we are applying () symbol to signify -ve sign for negative values:
3) Important to Note that this semantic formatting option will not be available in the Column Gripper when using the Measure on Rows Format:
In the case of Measure on Rows Layout, since we display the measures on rows, we cannot display the Semantic Formatting options in either the Row gripper or Column Gripper. Instead, when using the Measure on Rows layout we need to make use of the regular Semantic Formatting option in Display tab:
